MacKenzie Oberholzer, Director of Sports Information and Athletic Communications, is known for her dedication and passion for Thomas College and Thomas Athletics, and for her drive and talent.

MacKenzie, an employee of the College for two and a half years, is being recognized as this month’s Terrier STAR for her career focus, institutional inventiveness, providing a personalized experience and inspiring, and for care and community.

In her short time in her role in Athletics, MacKenzie has made a huge impact on the department’s ability to meet their goals, and to help tell the stories of student-athletes.  

“She has inspired positive change within the athletics programs, and takes an individualized approach to the coaches, and the student athlete’s needs. As an alumna and former student-athlete of the college, MacKenzie has an overwhelming sense of pride, and compassion for the Thomas College community,” said one colleague.

MacKenzie is not afraid to question the status quo and works hard to find innovative solutions to getting things done.

“MacKenzie strives to bring new ideas to Thomas and the Athletic department. She has worked tirelessly learning the systems and duties of her position and in a very short time, has implemented new changes that will bring our department’s social media platforms, processes and external awareness to the top of our conference and statewide. She has done research, attended conferences and collaborated with external entities to help bring these changes to our campus. Not only will these benefit our student athletes and our department, but many were also done on a collaboration level with other departments on campus which will help put a new light on all of Thomas College,” said a colleague.

MacKenzie is a great collaborator and truly cares about others: “MacKenzie inspires all that she comes in contact with. Her student employees, her colleagues, her athletes, her friends and her family. Her passion for her job and her excitement of the little things she is able to accomplish is the cutest thing ever and it is genuine.  She truly cares about what she is doing and the people she is impacting without even knowing that she is.”
